Bio IAN F.

After a decade of successful sound blending Ian F maintains the status of one of the most fresh-sounding deejays around. Being introduced to the art of music improvisation at an early age and heavily indulging on alternative art as a teenager, he continued to nurse this passion even more after becoming a deejay.

Ian F is a member of the Jesus Loved You family, co-founder of Flow Management agency and a long time resident deejay of Ambasadi Gavioli, one of the hottest super clubs in the Mediterranean. He forefronts the new generation of promising young artists that are redefining famous Slovenian techno sound and are heavily supported by artists such as Umek and Valentino Kanzyani.

Currently Ian F spends most of the off-deck time producing music and developing his Flux:ology, which combines elements of different art expressions. After a series of releases and remixes on selected labels in Europe, Asia and USA (Jesus Loved You, Advanced, Pure Substance, Traffica, Mashtronic, Decoded, Vezotonik, Dig:Atel …), he’s dedicated to spread his eclectic art of noise even further in the forthcoming months.

His production was supported by artists such Umek, Valentino Kanzyani, James Zabiela, Anthony Pappa, Armin Van Buuren, D Ramirez, Misjah, Wally Lopez, Flash Brothers, Andy Moor, Andrea Ferlin, Nick Muir, Wehbba, Marko Nastic, …

ECLECTICISM: from jazz improvisation to the sound of future
It's not unusual to put a kid behind the piano at the age of six. But when his peers where still learning to play Bach and Chopin, Hague (NL) born Jan Jakomin was already introduced to the art of jazz improvisation. So it’s kind of natural he acquired a healthy taste for fresh, modern, weird, provocative music, poetry, movies, design and other art expressions. “I guess this explains how I got involved in the electronic dance culture. I was, and still am, attracted to everything new. I noticed this stuff on some Italian radio stations even before the rave phenomenon hit Slovenia. I got hooked as I learned more about the music and the whole movement. I spent countless nights recording tunes from Italian radios on cassettes and listening to them on walkman on a way to school the morning after. But as this was well before the euphoria hit our home turf, I was considered weirdo who listens to some strange music, by most of the other kids.”

Moving to high school it became easier for Jan to find soul mates. Especially after Ambasada Gavioli club started to operate in his school backyard. “This is where the whole generation of young people got in touch with the scene. At the age of 15 I became flyer-boy and got to know then resident deejays Umek and Valentino Kanzyani and they are still two of my big role models. This was back in 1996. The year after I teamed up with Andrew Technique and Alexander Madness, we bought our first gear and started mixing records,” remembers the time when he became DJ Ian F, now already mature and established, but still very fresh sounding genre bending artist. “Gavioli was also the place where I got my big chance and spent the next eight years as a resident deejay. I’ve fine-tuned my knowledge of every angle of club culture: from performing, programming the set, to booking, sales of drinks and other aspects of party-organization. And I got in touch with some of the leading artists as they performed in the club on the regular basis.”

At the end of the century Ian F became a resident deejay of the Sub Sub club in the Slovenian capital city Ljubljana and was hand picked by Valentino Kanzyani to open or close his now legendary all-night performances as a support deejay. That gave additional momentum to Ian’s career, and he became regular performer at leading indoor and outdoor raves in the region and shared another residency with DJ Psiho at the Colosseum in Opatia, Croatia. Psiho also introduced him to the art of music production and they've released two joint ventures on Annuaki Records.

CHALLENGES: Productions. Live Act. New expressions.
Being obsessed with searching for some fresh stuff all the time, the life of producer is a constant battle for Ian F: “Currently I spend most of the off-deck time developing my own sound under the guidance of my studio guru Tomy DeClerque." Ian F’s recent production Subconscious was picked up by local Apple distributor for a TV commercial and can be heard on the MTV. Some other releases on Tested/Agent Funk, Mashtronic rec., Jesus Loved You (Valentino Kanzyani) and Traffica (Marko Nastic) are scheduled and the preliminary arrangements with some UK and Germany based labels were already struck. “Another intriguing project is Flux, for which I am joining forces with Tomy DeClerque, KayKay and Dave Morgan. Flux is a unique live act, a mixture of live music performance and electronic live act with the addition of other art expressions. It’s very alive. The structure and expression of this project varies all the time as it is under constant development. We’ve already performed in Gavioli and at one open-air party, but a lot of work still has to be put into this project.”

Performing at the parties is just one side of Ian F as a musician. He indulges on combining his passion for music with other art expressions on regular basis. He's no stranger to performing at art and fashion exhibitions, poetry recitals, teaming up with pop artists and rock bands or developing soundtrack for an on-line art gallery. He even produced music and performed with a contemporary dance company at selected venues, including premiere at the 7th Annual Gala at the national theatre, which was broadcasted live on the Slovenian national television.

REFERENCES: Performances. Releases. Collaborations.
Ian F is established artist in the region, performing in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina on the regular basis. His poison is techno & tech-house with expressive warm harmonies and little touches of other genres. As a long running resident of some of the top clubs and events in the north Adriatic region he already performed alongside most of the top techno artists as well as the biggest names in the industry such as Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Tiësto, Steve Lawler, Sasha, John Digweed if we name just a few. He's a resident deejay of Ambasada Gavioli, Fetch the Vibe events and official ambassador of Slovenian Haineken Music events.

Ian F's productions were so far spun and included on track lists and charts by Anthony Pappa, Armin Van Buuren, Flash Brothers, Andy Moor, Marko Nastic, Umek, Valentino Kanzyani and other established deejays. His artist production and remixes were released on Slovenian labels such as F-Recordings, Annunaki, Vezotonik and Vezotonik LTD, Malaysia based Pure Substance and Red Flux Music, Atel - DigAtel (USA), Mashtronic rec. from Germany, Advanced rec. (UK) and Croatian Decoded and Decoded Mini.

As a member of SDJF initiative Ian helps develop local club infrastructure and platforms to support young artists on their first steps. Another two promising young artists Andrew Technique and F.Sonik are members of Flow Management agency. Currently he’s also spending a lot of time in and out of the studio with a deejay & producer Aneuria.

ANEURIA

English Research:

Aneuria is a core member of Jesus Loved You collective, household name on leading labels, clubs and festivals in the Central Europe and Western Balkans and trusty studio sidekick of Ian F. and Tomy DeClerque. Lately he is redefining his artistic expression, fusing house roots, Balkan ethno and sounds of nature with techno patterns, taking his productions towards warmer, organic spheres. This refreshment was in sync with the new Jesus Loved You music vision and partly influenced by long studio sessions with Valentino Kanzyani.

Aneuria is still quite a fresh name on the scene. His earlier deejay performances were all about house but he soon realized that his interests grow deeper in experimental, underground, and not only electronic sounds. One of the first artists that noticed his talent and endless passion for music was his countryman and one of the original techno pioneers DJ Veztax. Without prejudice he backed him up and invited him to join the Interparty crew. Since then he became regular in the clubs and at the festivals in the Western Balkans and Central Europe.

In the early 00’s Aneuria and his then performing and producing partner Mexx founded a Muzika-Eclectica platform. It was designed to spread their sound trough the clubland. Their combos reflected minimalistic approach to groovy techno and were crowned with the success of Los tres puentes, a great summer record that touched the souls and feet of revelers all over the world. Responses from deejays around the globe were excellent and gave him motivation for further work. In that time he also collaborated with Serbian colleague Dejan Milicevic who taught him a lot about music production and still supports him as member of Recon Warriors crew.

Parting with Mexx as a regular combo few years ago, Aneuria focused on defining his own production and deejay style. He builds his sets mostly on repetitive loops, percussions and groove, thus creating tension on the dance floor, driving crowd into frenzy that always ends with some kind of surprise. That allows him to play with audience’s feelings and to build his own story, which is the essence of him as an artist.

After hooking up with creative soul mates Ian F. and Tomy Declerque it didn’t take long ‘till he got in touch with their friend Valentino Kanzyani, too. In the early 2008 he joined the Jesus Loved You collective as independent artist, frequently collaborating with Ian F. and Tomy DeClerque. Their most successful joint venture so far was Tommy Joy EP. Aneuria’s own Buenoliter was included on Simplicity vol. 1 compilation and he recorded series of remixes for artists such as Umek, Angel Anx, Antoine Caesar, Danilo Tomic and Glorio Veztacci.

Lately he is redefining his artist expression, fusing house roots, Balkan ethno and sounds of nature with techno patterns, taking his sound towards warmer, organic spheres. This refreshment was in sync with the new Jesus Loved You music vision and partly influenced by long studio sessions with Valentino and Ian F. The fruits of their labor will be presented in the following months as some of the forthcoming JLY releases. While Aneuria’s next solo releases will be brought to you on labels such as Glorio Music, Recoon Light (Ljubiana EP) and Jesus Loved You (Baronga EP).

                                                                 Tomy DeClerque

A member of the new generation of Slovenian deejays, Tomy DeClerque grew up in an environment full of promising development in the sphere of electronic dance music. In front of his eyes the local scene has been turning into a globally acknowledged style of techno music in the hands of artists such as Umek and Valentino Kanzyani. A natural choice for a guy with talent and ambition was to jump the train – and Tomy DeClerque has road it ever since.
Performing as a deejay since he turned seventeen Tomy DeClerque soon realised that making his own production was essential if he wanted his carrier to really take off. He hooked up with his friend Zox to form the Tomy or Zox duo, and their hard work paid off as their My Desire single received some favourable feedback in Spain, Russia and Mexico. However, it was the Music Makes Me Happy hit single that caught the attention of top artists being remixed by the likes of Mainframe and ATCF, and released on several prestigious compilations, such as Ministry Of Sound, DJ Awards at Pacha Ibiza and Blanco Y Negro Mix. ‘The greatest satisfaction, though, – Tomy says – was when we got set as Essential new tune of the week on Pete Tong’s celebrated Essential selection radio show.’
After parting ways with Zox, Tomy felt that it was time to take a break from a demanding life of producer and performer, before he went on to start his solo career. Searching for genuine underground sound that could revive the authentic feeling of electronic dance music he experienced in his youth Tomy turned to Valentino Kanzyani’s Jesus Loved You label releasing a much praised I Don’t Know. Driven by his passion for teamwork, a lot of his studio work is done in collaboration with his friend F. Sonik. The duo’s first major success was winning VONYC remix competition with a remix of Valentino Kanzyani’s Nueva York.
As a young player, Tomy DeClerque has accomplished a lot. But he is determined to accomplish even more. ‘You’ll hear a lot about me in the future,’ he promises.

Valentino Kanzyani @ The Wave Fm :: Jesus Loved You Special Month :: 13.06.2009

For this saturday an interesting instrospective about the owner and ceo of Jesus Loved You, that inspired in the dancefloor music and fresh sounds, discover this face on the music creating his own label and for friends, just Techno, House, Electronica, or maximal new wave.
Friend of dj Uros Umek and ex-hardtechno tribal dj, reinvent all the time Valentino's Kanzyani performer, publisher and music compositor sell a continual history about the years and the countries that he was present.
With a lot of carrier, we will see and feel the freshment touch of delicious music, that about he really know how to do it !

                                                           Valentino Kanzyani

The undisputed king of Slovenian underground electronica. If you're not a newby in the never ending game of beatmatching and scratching, you probably know Valentino doesn't really understand the meaning of words limit, border and purism. He is one of the founding fathers of Slovenian techno, but that has never really stopped him to throw one of his gourmet house or even d&b sets. Or anything in between that he found fresh at the time. After a decade of creative symbiotic with his fellow countrymen Umek, with whom he founded and managed labels Recycled Loops and Earesistible Musick, the two discovered they’ve grown apart, shook hands and concentrated on new music ventures each on their own. After a series of big releases on labels such as Primevil, Yoshitoshi (Flying), Intec (House Soul EP), Wet Musik, Tronic (Burros Eslovenos) and Primate Kanzyani decided it is time to take a break. He spent the summer in Ibiza where he, as many other artists before him, found his new muse. He gathered flock of fresh artists under the Jesus Loved You ensign and now leads them back to the essence of clubbing debauchery. In this honorable cause he’s heavily supported by artists such as Paul Van Dyk, Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Sharam and essential selector Pete Tong, who, after all this years in business and hundred thousands of flown miles still consider Kanzyani one of the most passionate and fresh sounding electronic artists on the Globe.
Around the years he was traveling for a lot of countries and spreading the electronic culture he was own "Jesus Loved You Records" place for great musicians that only think into the sublime beats as minimal, Techno, maximal or just Electronica.

Valentino Kanzyani & Marko Nastic @ Buenos Aires

Welcome to the world of Marko Nastic, the leading South Eastern European electronic DJ. Raised in war-torn Belgrade, Marko grew into a catalyst for the 90s generation of young that grew in isolation and despair but never surrender. In a troubled Serbia of the 90s, Marko and his buddies built one of the most vibrant club scenes in Europe, the one that inspired writers of Mixmag, The Face, DJ and NME to write accolades many moons ago. They resisted dark forces of political madness with electronic music and celebration of life.
DJing and music were always a part of Marko Nastic’s background: even in his pre-teen years he was fascinated with synthesizers, drum machines and other sound-making gadgets. When techno started filtering through to Serbia in the early 90s, Marko entered the scene.
Still only 14, Marko had just landed a job at Belgrade’s dance music shop Happy People, where his interest in dance music was allowed to flourish. A year later, he was behind the decks at the leading Belgrade underground club Industria.
A word on a teenage techno prodigy started spreading around town. Very soon, the new energy channeled into a young & aspiring DJs team called Teenage Techno Punks – all of them under 18 but performing like they are born on the 1210s. Nastic was the leader of the pack; soon to became the hottest talent of South Eastern Europe electronic scene. The queues the enter clubs in the region on the nights they performed were longer than ever. The word was now spreading beyond the boundaries of Serbia.
Still, to stay on the tracks in a troubled and conflict-ridden country demanded a bit more talent and power than straight down forward mixing skills and ear for a good tune. Just as techno music was becoming popular in Serbia, the Balkan conflict escalated. Marko admits that he was too young to realize the gravity of the situation, but like every area of life it also impacted on his world. “Things were tense, but a lot of it probably went over my head,” he admits. “it also meant that buying records was very difficult and the choice was poor”.
However, the circumstances shaped and strengthened Marco just like other kids there. The free parties they threw in such a conditions are still a sort of urban legend in Belgrade, like 78 afternoon gigs they had during the 1999 NATO air raids of Serbia a sort of a ”techno against the cruise missiles” scenario. Every afternoon, 5PM sharp, the kids queued to enter Industria club, to celebrate life and resist war. Three hours later the total blackout and sounds of air ride alarms meant the parties were to stop and kids were either to stay in the club-turned-shelter or to go home.
Soon, the war was over. One by one, the clubbing scenes in neighboring countries became aware of Nastic’s unparalleled DJing skills and his distinctive three-deck style. Marko matured into a DJ whose trademark is a lack of genre boundaries. Do not attempt to label him as techno or house or minimal: he’s all of that, and more.
Marko was the member of the original Recycled Loops crew. After the label stopped, Marko joined Valentino’s Jesus Loved You. Besides that he established three labels himself. It all begun with the well known label Recon Warriors, which put Marko on the charts, but in time he evolved his style and that’s how Recon Light and Traffica where born.
Marko is very busy with DJing around the globe and has loads of projects running. For example Space Explorers with Marko Milosaljevic, Tango and Cash with Kobaya and Faut pas de Conner with Valentino Kanzyani and don’t forget the projects with Dejan Milicevic, Tommy de Clerqe, Aneuria, Jan Nemecek, Djordje Miljenovic and Danilo Tomic.
Marko did his first non-European tour in 2002, which started in Brazil. Now he regularly plays gigs all over the world. Today his favorite clubs and festivals include Exit (he performed on all thus far – 10 years in a row, like no other artist there), Awakenings, Monegros, Bali, Colloseum, Florida 135 and Apollo - where Marko has a quarterly residence.
One of his most memorable performances was the one with symphony orchestra in occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of Nikola Tesla, famous electric inventor.
Since 2006 he is the author and the host of the radio show “Music For Body And Soul” on the leading Serbian radio station B92.
His authorial album is due to be released.
